We've lowered the price of eggs

Skyrocketing egg prices were not on anyone’s 2025 wish list. But, unfortunately, families across America are experiencing worsening sticker shock and empty shelves for this household favorite.

At Ibotta, we’re all about helping you get your groceries for less. It’s part of our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding to deliver a positive impact for our consumers. That’s why we’re making it easy to get cash back on eggs.

Eggs by the numbers

The national average price for a dozen eggs on January 28, 2025 was $5.65, compared to only $3.23 for the same date in 2024. That’s an increase of 75% in one year.*

That’s why we’re covering the price difference for everyone, starting with a $2.50 offer on February 7, 2025, eligible on any brand of eggs.** This first offer will launch at 12:00 AM MT on the 7th and only be available for 24 hours, so be ready to shop.

We’ll continue offering cash back on eggs every Friday in February, so check back each week. The egg offer will only be available in the app on Fridays during February, so you won’t see it other days of the week.

**Limit one offer redemption per Friday. Limited time offer. Exclusions may apply. Ibotta’s terms and conditions apply.

Why are egg prices so high?

The last time egg prices were close to these record-breaking prices was in January of 2023. And the common culprit for both of these price spikes is a very contagious strain of bird flu.

While we’re seeing an increase across the country, some states have been hit harder than others. Our own home state of Colorado has the second highest average price of eggs, and one of the states with the biggest percentage increase in price. So we know how important this is.

And of course, the demand for eggs is always high. Egg protein is a consistent, reliable grocery staple. Whether you're scrambling, baking, or simply enjoying a hard-boiled snack, we think you deserve to be rewarded. So make sure to get cash back on your egg purchases in February.

When will egg prices go down?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like egg prices will go down anytime soon. But when you use Ibotta to get cash back on your groceries, you can beat inflation on all sorts of kitchen staples. Eggs are just the beginning!

Once you get your cash back on eggs, don’t stop there! With over 1,000 daily offers in the app, you can stretch your grocery budget no matter what the prices are. Consistent Ibotta app users earn an average of $261 a year!
